Swami
Vyomananda
Served as Secretary for the Period June. 1968 to
December, 1969
Swami Vyomananda, a senior monk of
the Ramakrishna Order was born on 1st March 1926 at Raigarh in M. P.
- now Chattisgarh.
After his college education, he joined
the Ramakrishna Order at Ramakrishna Ashram, Nagpur on 1st Dec. 1947.
Before that he had his ?Mantra Diksha? from Srimat Swami Virajanandaji
Maharaj in the same year. He was initiated into Brahmacharya and Sannyasa
by Srimat Swami Sankaranandaji Maharaj in 1952 and in 1957 respectively.
He stayed at Nagpur for 21 years under the training and headship
of Srimat Swami Bhaskareswaranandaji Maharaj, a disciple of Srimat Swami
Shivanandaji Maharaj. Nagpur being the centre for publication of books in
Hindi, he was associated with the publication of a large number of Hindi
books, such as "Sri Ramakrishna Leela
Prasanga", the "Holy
Mother's Life", etc. He translated into
Hindi the book "Teachings of Swami
Brahmananda" with the Hindi version being
titled as "Dhyan, Dharma evam
Sadhana".
He was first transferred
to Delhi centre as its Head in 1968 and later on to Allahabad and Rajkot
Centers as the head. He was instrumental in the restoration of the
residential building (1975) in which Srimat Swami Vijnananandaji Maharaj
had resided till his Mahasamadhi at Allahabad Centre.
At Rajkot, he
was instrumental in a major way in the consecration of the temple of Sri
Ramakrishna in 1979. Besides many other relief works, it was also his
unique privilege to undertake a massive relief and rehabilitation
programme at Morvi in Rajkot district after a major disaster in which the
Morvi dam had burst.
He is well known for his preaching work in
Hindi.
At present, he is leading a retired life at Varanasi
Ramakrishna Advaita Ashram.
